Thrilling races and crazy power-ups await
Beach Buggy Racing is a free multiplayer racing game that plays much like Angry Birds or Team Sonic Racing™, which was heavily inspired by Super Mario Kart. You whizz around a series of summery tracks, collecting power-ups while dodging crabs and seagulls. Here, there are tons of tracks, power-ups, and characters to unlock.
Beach Buggy Racing is more than just a casual racer—it’s an action-packed adventure. Players must navigate treacherous courses, battle skilled opponents, and use crazy power-ups like Dodgeball Frenzy, Fireball, and Oil Slick to secure victory. Whether playing solo or challenging friends, it ensures non-stop excitement.
A dynamic racing experience
In Beach Buggy Racing, scavenging for game currency isn't as much of an issue as it is in other games. Gems can be earned by winning races, and these can be used to unlock power-ups. Tickets, which you need to enter a race, can be won by gaining three stars on an event or by waiting for them to refill, which takes 30 seconds. You get coins for taking part in races, which can be used to boost up your car, and new levels can be unlocked by beating bosses.
The controls in this game are straightforward. Using the tilt control, you can steer your kart around the track. Apply the brakes by tapping the screen. However, mastering the controls is harder than it looks. Prepare to slide out of a lot on bends and fall off bridges and cliffs because the kart wobbles around a lot. Obstacles and weapons are hard to avoid, too.
Drive through a power-up symbol to collect a random item, which you can activate by tapping the icon on the right side of the screen. Each character also has a unique special move, triggered by an icon on the left. While you can keep playing for free without much hassle, a potential drawback is that multiplayer is locked behind the premium upgrade, requiring payment for infinite tickets and split-screen racing with friends.
A must-play for kart-racing fans
The overall presentation of Beach Buggy Racing is excellent. The crazy characters are well conceived, the backgrounds are lavishly designed and varied, and the bouncy surf soundtrack fits nicely with the cheery theme of the game. However, it’s disappointing that multiplayer is locked behind the premium upgrade—though even in the free version, there’s still plenty of excitement to enjoy.
